臨床研究推進センターの理念は、以下の行動理念のもと、高い倫理性と科学的妥当性を確保した臨床研究を推進し、先端的医療の開発に貢献することです。
　・医療イノベーションに資する臨床研究を推進します。
　・最適な医療が選択できるような科学的根拠を形成する臨床研究を推進します。
　・利用するユーザーの視点に立ち、信頼される組織を目指します。
　・病院内の関連部署との緊密な連携に努めます。
　・専門的な知識と技術をもった人材を育成しながら、力を結集して組織が一体となって業務に取り組みます。

臨床研究推進センターは、医師、薬剤師、看護師、臨床検査技師、生物統計家、事務職員等からなるトレーニングを積んだ専門のスタッフにより、関連部署とも連携しながら支援をしています。
2011年7月、東大病院は厚生労働省の「早期・探索的臨床試験拠点」に選定されました。
また、東大病院は2006年に設立した大学病院臨床試験アライアンス – University Hospital Clinical Trial Alliance (UHCT Alliance) https://plaza.umin.ac.jp/のメンバーとして、活動しています。
さらに2016年3月25日、東大病院は厚生労働省より医療法に基づく「臨床研究中核病院」として承認されました。
臨床研究中核病院は、わが国発の革新的医薬品・医療機器の開発などを目指す上で必要となる質の高い臨床研究を推進するため、国際水準の臨床研究や医師主導治験の中心的役割を担うものです。
臨床研究推進センターの役割や責任も日々大きくなっており、さらなる発展へ努力を続けています。

The mission of the Clinical Research Promotion Center is to promote clinical research that ensures high ethical standards and scientific validity, and to contribute to the development of cutting-edge medical care, in accordance with the following principles.
　The center promotes clinical research that contributes to medical innovation.
　We promote clinical research that forms the scientific basis for selecting the optimal medical care.
　We aim to be a trusted organization from the user’s perspective.
　The center strives to work closely with related departments within the hospital.
　While developing human resources with specialized knowledge and skills, we combine our strengths and work as a unified organization.
